My name is Jordyn Cascone. I am 17 years old. I started my non-profit organization, Jordyn's Cause 4 Paws when I was 12 years old as my Silver Award project for Girl Scouts. Jordyn's Cause 4 Paws is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing pet food for the animals of the homebound.
I worked with Mrs. Sasa Montano, the Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Mercer County. With her help, I determined the significant need for my program in our community.
Many homebound people qualify for the Meals on Wheels program. It had come to my attention, a growing number of these recipients give their food away to their pets because they can't afford to buy pet food. I have created this program to address their pet's needs.
I organized this program because the companionship of pets plays an important role in the quality of these recipient's lives. Sometimes, their pet may be their only companion. Through this program, I am helping the recipients maintain a healthy diet for their animals. The diet-specific pet food is delivered with the recipients own nutritious meals weekly.
